Start with a paver size and a sample
NexTier includes square and rectangular concrete pavers in 1, 1.5 and 2-inch thicknesses. Sizes vary by thickness: the product selector lists only the 41 combinations shown by Hieb. Explore Mocha, Bamboo, Grey, Feather, Linen, Flint, Natural and Suede, with Smooth, Course and Rustic texture references. Course is the manufacturer’s published label. Color and texture requests must be confirmed for your selected size; a reference swatch is not a stock promise. Ask Krebs about samples, custom sizes or custom colors and any minimum quantity.
Match the installation to the project
Hieb shows NexTier on patios, pool surrounds, porches, stairs and interior floors. Before ordering, have your installer confirm the substrate, setting materials, drainage, joints and suitability of the selected thickness for your application. These examples do not establish a vehicular paving rating. Share the area, desired pattern, edge details and any steps with Krebs.
Choose the sealer with the color
Hieb recommends an on-site penetrating sealer. A gloss sealer can noticeably deepen the color and change the appearance; the comparisons below show that difference. Review a sample with the proposed finish, and follow the sealer manufacturer’s instructions for preparation, application and maintenance. Hieb suggests resealing at approximately three to four years, or as directed by the sealer manufacturer; exposure and use can affect that interval.
Discuss parking and site products
The listed parking bumper is 72 inches long, 7 inches wide and 5 inches high. The steel-reinforced semi-truck bumper is 96 inches long, 16 inches wide and 12 inches high. The tapered traffic bollard is 42 inches high with a 24 × 24-inch base and a 10 × 10-inch top, rebar and a threaded lifting eye. Bring the site layout, quantities, installation requirements and access information. Confirm anchoring, handling, pickup or delivery with the team. No vehicle-impact or crash rating is represented.
Confirm the stair tread against the frame
SHIELD concrete stair treads are listed in 36, 38, 42, 45 and 48-inch lengths, each 12 inches deep. Hieb describes epoxy-coated steel reinforcement and four-bolt attachment. Smooth and lightly brushed finishes are offered; Hieb recommends smooth treads for interior use only. Have the manufacturer and installer verify the current shop drawing, thickness, mounting pattern, frame fit and project loading requirements before ordering. Older source drawings differ, so mounting dimensions are not supplied here.
Turn a custom idea into a useful inquiry
Hieb’s custom examples include architectural facades, veranda cladding, garage-door and fireplace surrounds, tapered columns, park benches, barrier planters and decorative planters. These are examples of fabricated work rather than standard stocked items. Start with a drawing or photograph and discuss the details with Krebs.

Request the technical information that applies
Hieb links a 2024 test package identifying NexTier concrete floor tile. Test results apply to the specimens and methods in those reports; they do not establish every size, finish or application, and the linked package does not identify SHIELD stair treads as the tested product. Ask Krebs for current, product-specific technical information required by your designer or installer.
